Website Database Integration

The integration of a website with large amounts of data represents a challenge to both the website owner and the author.

Many Internet companies claim the knowledge to integrate databases - here at TMS Media we have the practical experience of having designed and published over 60 websites with fully functional databases to drive the content.
In the past, website database integration was complex and consequently considered somewhat uneconomical for smaller business websites. Our experience means we are able to integrate data at various levels, and advise regarding an economical and practical solution dependent upon the amount and type of the data.

We have developed an extremely efficient UNIX based system called DataPilot which not only integrates your website with your database content, but also allows you to add / amend / delete database entries easily. You do not have to re-upload the entire database every time some data changes. Your DataPilot online control panel gives you simple and full online access to your database.

Potentially Boring Slightly Technical Stuff.....

Having researched the subject of website database integration, our platform of choice is most definitely UNIX, running mySQL with php4. That does not mean we are sad geekie types(!) - it means that your database driven website will work quickly and efficiently without having to spend a fortune on specialised hosting arrangements.
There are two main technical methods for database integration. ASP is a pre-packaged Microsoft solution. For programmers familiar with the NT platform, ASP at first appears the obvious solution. Unfortunately, this ungainly technology requires massive computing power on the server to work properly. If you've ever visited an ASP database site that is hosted on a normal server, you'll have experienced the excruciating wait while the engine trawls forever through even the smallest database.
Our preferred UNIX/php4/mySQL solution can achieve a great deal in a few short lines of well-written code.
