Energy firms deal should treble turnover
Thursday 19th August 2010UK controls company 3sun has acquired a 75per cent shareholding in Dawson Energy as it chases more business in the renewables industry.
It is the first acquisition of the Great Yarmouth-based company, launched in 2008, and is projected - along with the organic growth of its core business - to treble group turnover to £10m in the coming year.
3suns lead financial advice in the deal came from Jon Dodge of JDC Corporate Finance.
Scotland-based Dawson Energy, which also has offices at Orbis Energy, Lowestoft, and in Bergen, is one of the countrys leading providers of technicians to install and service wind turbines. It also supports the hydro power sector.
Dawsons 70 full-time staff will be added into the 3sun group - which itself employs around 20 personnel - with founder and owner Willie Dawson having a key role as Operations Director.
The acquisition is part of our strategic plan to take 3sun further into the vibrant renewable sector as well as growing organically in our core oil and gas operations, said 3sun director Graham Hacon.
Renewables have an ever-growing footprint in the energy industry and there will be a big demand for skilled technicians in the East of England. Its an area which complements our
3sun marketing and PR representative Lori-Ann Fleming added: Some of the worlds biggest windfarms are to be built on our doorstep and our extensive research shows that there will be a tremendous gap in the market which 3sun Group can help fill.
3sun will continue to operate from its Beacon Innovation Centre headquarters with a manufacturing unit at nearby Harfreys estate.
