Post Office Closure
Wednesday 14th July 2004The battle to save a Gorleston Post Office has been lost. Six weeks of campaigning followed by a tense three-week wait ended when the Post Office revealed that the White Horse petrol station branch in Beccles Road will close in August.
Now campaigners are hoping that a closure threat hanging over the Shrublands branch will be lifted. Great Yarmouth MP Tony Wright has urged people to get behind the Almond Road branch in a last-ditch bid to save it. An estimated 1000-plus people have filled in coupons, signed petitions, and written letters protesting against the closures.
