Prince makes it a special day for Great Yarmouth
Monday 27th February 2012Thousands of people lined the streets as Great Yarmouth turned out in force to welcome the Prince of Wales to the town.
Excited flag-waving children gave Prince Charles a loud and lively reception as he walked through the Market Place where he met stallholders.
He visited the family-run Palmers department store, cutting a cake to help celebrate its 175th anniversary, and said he was much in favour of family businesses.
Prince Charles also met Great Yarmouth College students as his tour of the town continued.
Also coming under Royal scrutiny was the historic St George’s Chapel where Prince Charles was guided by architect Sir Michael Hopkins and discussed the £5m project’s progress with trustees and workers.
After examining the plans for the chapel, he discussed apprenticeships with the sub-contractors, before leaving to greet crowds lining King Street and make his way to the SeaChange Arts Trust.
