Soap star to help unveil new store

TV soap star Tom Lister is to be a special guest to mark the opening of Great Yarmouth’s new Poundland store.

Lister, who plays Emmerdale heartthrob Carl King, will join the family fun day at the Gapton Hall branch on Saturday November 27, two days after it opens its doors.

After officially opening the new outlet at 11am, he will stay until about 2pm to sign autographs and have his photo taken with fans and will give out £1 vouchers to use in the store.

A “checkout challenge” in store will also see £10 worth of Poundland vouchers given away at regular intervals during the day.

The event will run all day with an in-store DJ and entertainer giving away balloons and sweets.

Poundland is in the premises of the former Rosebys furniture store unit and has created 30 new jobs. The company already has a store at the Market Gates shopping centre in Yarmouth and is opening the new branch as part of an experimental use of retail parks.
