Harbour set to transform economy
The face of Great Yarmouth will change in three years once the first ferries berth at the new £43.5million outer harbour. The project, which has finally received government clearance, is expected to give a huge economic and tourism boost to the region, and play a key role in the regeneration of Yarmouth. Thousands of jobs could be created in the borough. Yarmouth MP Tony Wright believes the harbour will bring massive economic benefits. "I am delighted," said Mr Wright. "It sends the message that Yarmouth is open for business. It will be no longer be at the end of the road, but at the heart of Europe."
