Grim Haul in Graveyard Cleanup
A cleanup of the vast graveyard around St Nicholas Church by the Council "deep clean" squad has produced an unwelcome haul. Workmen filled 60 sacks with rubbish including beer cans and plastic bottles. Rough sleepers and drug abusers had also left soiled mattresses, sleeping bags and used needles in bushes.
The cleanup was ordered after a gardener had been verbally threatened whilst tending graves.
