Road trains head for new routes
Thursday 15th November 2007Road trains could soon be rumbling around some of Great Yarmouths favourite heritage sites to woo visitors and link the town centre with the promenade.
Debra Lord, who runs the road train service along the seafront, is talking to the council about extending it inland to operate via St Georges Park, past the Time & Tide Museum, along South and North Quay and then back past Sainsburys
She also wants to introduce a tinsel and turkey special over the next few weeks taking seafront hotel guests on tours of the town, including the market place.
Since starting her Lord Choo Choo company, she has extended the service each year and now employs eight full-time staff during the holiday season.
But the new heritage tour could operate throughout the year if it gets approval.
And if, in the longer term, a foot passenger service is introduced at the outer harbour, she would like to run a road train link there as well.
