Training boost for hospital
Tuesday 5th June 2012Education and training facilities at the James Paget University Hospitals are to receive an exciting boost this year.
£500,000 is being invested in upgrading the Burrage Centre to provide additional resources for medical and nursing students and existing staff.
The capital investment represents the Trust’s continuing commitment to providing high quality medical and nurse training for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Six major improvements are planned including:
• relocating the existing library to the Burrage Centre and upgrading the resource
• upgrading the current lecture theatre
• a study area with Wi-Fi access for students and staff
• provision of additional teaching rooms
• incorporation of e-learning facilities
• additional clinical simulation facilities (will be part of the 2nd phase)
Director of Workforce and Organisational Development, Kirk Lower, said: “This is a fabulous development to significantly enhance the Trust’s existing education and training facilities which are already very good. Working with our partners across the NHS and at the University of East Anglia (UEA) and University College Suffolk (UCS), the improved facilities will also be available to all Trust staff to support their own studies and continuous professional
development.”
